Permit test rules and prices change. This page explains where our facts come from, how a page gets published, and how we fix mistakes.

Where our facts come from

State rules come from official agencies: the California DMV, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Every guide lists its sources at the bottom and links to the official page.

App prices, trials and policies come from each company's own pages and its Apple App Store listing, opened on the date we state.

How a page gets published

We use AI to draft. A person then checks every fact against the official source, and nothing goes live without that check.

Each state guide has its own facts, not a template with the state name swapped. We state a number only if we found it on an official page.

How we handle comparisons

Permi is one of the apps we compare, so we hold ourselves to extra rules.

  • We say that Permi is our app, mark it as ours in every comparison table, and compare it using the same rows and checks as every other app.
  • We check prices and policies on the companies' own pages and date the comparison.
  • We take no payment for placement, and we have no paid relationship with the other apps.
  • We say "not stated" when a company's page doesn't say something, instead of guessing.

Updates and corrections

Pages show when they were checked or updated. We recheck a state guide when its handbook changes, and the app comparison every quarter.

If you find something wrong or out of date, tell us on our contact page. We fix it and note the correction on the page.
